The 2019 Australian federal election will be held on Saturday 18 May 2019.

 

If you are an eligible Australian citizen living overseas you can still participate but you need to be enrolled. To enrol, check or update your enrolment details visit www.aec.gov.au. The deadline for enrolling or updating your details for the federal election is 8pm, Thursday 18 April (Australian time in the electorate you’re enrolled).

In-person voting will be available at the Australian Embassy in Berlin (Wallstraße 76-79, 101179 Berlin – U Märkisches Museum), from 7-17 May between 0830 and 1630 weekdays.  There is no in person voting services being provided at the Australian Consulate-General in Frankfurt. Alternatively, you can apply for a postal vote online now at www.aec.gov.au.

If you are overseas and unable to vote, complete an overseas notification form and return it to the AEC. Being overseas is a valid reason for not voting.

 Passports and notarial services are available by appointment only. 

Booking Policy

Clients should arrive 5 minutes prior to appointments for security screening.  If you arrive late for your appointment you may need to wait until an officer is available. Appointments are available for the following services:

  • Australian Passport applications – adult and child. A child application must be lodged by a person with parental responsibility, usually the mother or father. Children under the age of 16 do not need to accompany the lodging parent to the appointment.
  • Emergency passports if your intended travel is not within the next 72 hours
  • Notarial Services


    Appointments are not required for the following services:

  • Passport collections (in Berlin, please contact Frankfurt for pick-up appointments)
  • Emergency passport applications

How to book your appointment

Steps to booking:

  1. Select your desired service. Please make one appointment for each service you require (i.e. one appointment for each passport application you are lodging).
  2. You will automatically be forwarded to the next available appointment. 
  3. Enter your information.  We ask you to list an email address and a phone number so that you can receive appointment reminders and we can contact you if necessary.
  4. Attend the Embassy or Consulate-General at your designated appointment time and bring the relevant documents for your passport application or your notarial service. Incomplete applications may be rejected.
  5. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please email: consular.berlin@dfat.gov.au or consular.frankfurt@austrade.gov.au.

Fees

We do not charge a fee for the appointments. The fees listed on our booking page are for the service you have selected; not for the appointment. Fees may vary month to month, up-to-date fees are available here.  Fees must be paid in Eurp by debit (EC) or credit card only.

Privacy Policy

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) uses third-party software (Setmore) to manage the Embassy's and Consulate-General's appointments.  Your personal information (including your name and contact details) will be collected by DFAT via Setmore to book your appointment and for related purposes.  By proceeding with this booking, you are consenting to the collection of this information by Setmore on DFAT's behalf for these purposes.  If this information is not collected, DFAT's ability to arrange your appointment will be limited.  Your personal information will be handled by Setmore in accordance with Setmore's Privacy Policy, and by DFAT in accordance with DFAT's Privacy Pollicy.
