Once we have received your application, processing may be delayed for any of the following reasons:
• Your application is invalid because you have not authorised us to charge you the correct fee.

• You have not auhorised payment by Visa, Mastercard or crossed cheque.

• Your application is invalid because you have filled in an outdated form. Please ensure that you use the most up-to-date application form, available for download from our website.

• Your application is invalid because you have not indicated your residential address in your application form.
• Your application form does not have a photograph attached.
• You have not answered all relevant questions on your application form.
• You completed your application in a language other than English.
• You completed your application in pencil.
• You have not provided translations of non- English documents.
• Your application is incomplete because it does not have the necessary supporting documents. For information on costs, documents to attach to your application, and other information to help you prepare your application to be lodged in Berlin, please follow the advice listed on our website.

• Your case officer may request that you submit additional documents or information, in order for us to make a decision on your application.
• Your e-mail address or other information in the application form is illegible.
• Your spam filter does not allow you to receive e-mails from unknown recipients.
• You did not agree to communicate with our office by email. Processing will be delayed because we will have to contact you by letter. Please note that E-mail is the fastest way for us to inform you about your visa application process.
• In some individual cases, there may be the need for additional medical, character or other checks, which will lead to longer processing times.
• You have not informed us of any changes of your address or contact details while we are processing your application.
• You have asked us to transfer your application to another office.
