Expression of Interest –Participation in a Pool of Staff to fill Short-Term Vacancies
The Berlin office is seeking staff for a pool to fill short-term vacancies arising in Berlin until June 2012.
The office is responsible for visitor, student and migration visa processing from a range of European countries. Successful applicants will be used to fill vacancies in the administrative support of our work. The duty statement below provides detail of responsibility.
Given the short-term nature of the positions, ‘job-ready’ staff are required, so preference will be given to applicants with experience in a visa processing environment. A working knowledge of IRIS is an advantage. Fluency in English is essential. Preference is given to a second language from our processing countries including German, Italian, Polish, Greek, Estonian, Lithuanian and Dutch.
Successful candidates will need to cover their own transfer and ongoing costs associated with working in Berlin. The positions are full-time, for a maximum of 6 months, at the Client Services Officer (formerly BB1) level, with a salary level of €2,578.78 / month gross. Locally engaged terms and conditions of service apply. Opportunities may also exist for contract work paid on an hourly basis.
Duty Statement
Within a particular area of responsibility, the work may include some or all of the following:
• Receipting payments for visa applications
• Assessing the evidence provided by clients in support of visa applications
• Preparing and sending correspondence to visa applicants to request information
• Granting certain categories of visas
• Visa evidencing
• Maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation
• Archiving finalised applications
• Responding to and managing client enquiries (face to face, via email and over the telephone)
• Updating and maintaining on-line records and developing and maintaining registers
• Managing a variety of office duties and office administration tasks
• Contributing to reviews of work practices including providing advice on the provision and delivery
of service
• Liaising with other work units within the department or other organisations on routine matters
